Obituary of Bina Ola Saunders-McLaggan

The passing of Bina Ola Saunders-McLaggan of Fredericton, NB occurred on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on March 23, 1939 in Zealand, NB,  she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan (Morehouse) Spavold. 

She attended the Nashwaaksis United Church and was a member of the Nashwaaksis Lionettes and Nashwaaksis 55 Plus Club; she also attended TOPS and was a long time member.  Bina was a cook and an owner and operator of the Lunch Break Restaurant; she then worked and retired from Fundy Cable.

Bina is survived by daughter,  Esther Saunders of Moncton; son,  Kerry Saunders (Barbara Peters) of Fredericton;  grandchildren,  Mark Lowther (Mark Duffy) of Halifax, Shawn Lowther of Moncton and Eric Lowther of Halifax; sisters,  Barbara Spavold of Maple Ridge and Beryl Gordon (Ross) of Fredericton; brother, John Spavold (May) of Saint John; grandchildren, Julie Moore, Stephanie Millar and Raymond Tupper; several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her first husband,  Roy Saunders; second husband,  Sheridan McLaggan; brother,  Clayton Morehouse;  sisters, Berma Spavold (Perley Trail) and Betty Morehouse.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  The Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Brian DeLong officiating.  Interment will take place in Woodlands Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Woodlands Cemetery, St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery or to a charity of the donor's choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
