SAUNDERS, JAMES "JIM" NEILL 

The passing of James "Jim" Neill Saunders of Fredericton, NB, husband of Irene (Richard) Saunders, occurred at home on Monday, August 30, 2021.  Born on September 7, 1932 in Marysville, NB, he was the son of the late David and Lilianne (Chase) Saunders.  Jim was a Firefighter with the City of Fredericton.  He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.  With his wife, Jim built a few homes, and will be remembered as a "Jack of all Trades". 

 

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, John Saunders (and the late Debbie), Cindy Saunders, Geraldine Charters (Raymond), Gerald Saunders (Lyn) and Donald Saunders; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; special nephew, Billy Saunders and special niece, Brenda Richard.  Jim is the last surviving member of his immediate family, in addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Percy, Miles, Gerald, Thelma, Byron, Della, Madeline, Osborne and Beulah.

 

There will be no public visitation.  Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on Thursday, September 2, 2021 with Rev. Dr. Michael McGowan as celebrant.  Pallbearers for the service will be Shawn Clark, Andrew Jackart, Tyler Charters, Luke Saunders, Kyle Saunders and Maurice Richard.  Interment will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. The family wish to express their gratitude for the care and compassion given to Jim and his family by the Extra Mural Nurses and Physio Shawn Rice.   For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
