Obituary of Hazel Janette McKay

The passing of Hazel Janette McKay of Lakeville Corner, NB, wife of Valentine McKay, occurred on July 17, 2021 at Neill Hall- Shannax.  Born on January 25, 1944 in Lakeville Corner, NB, she was the daughter of Mabel (Price) Hargrove and Kenneth Hargrove. 

Hazel was a member of the Four Lakes Senior Center, The Woman’s Institute and United Church Women’s. She enjoyed playing darts, camping, church, her family, cooking, hunting, swimming and gardening.  She had traveled with her husband and her brother and his wife, Lachlan and Betty, on many cruises. 

Hazel is survived by son, Sonny Barton (Shauna) of Fredericton; daughter, Bonny Barton (Calvin) of Fredericton, sister-in-law Betty Hargrove; grandchildren, Jessica, Corey, Cody, Trevor, Shane, Christopher and Alex; great grandchildren, Kendrick and Milly; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lachlan Hargrove. 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  The funeral will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Due to the current health concerns the service is by invitation only.  Interment will take place in Lakeville Corner Cemetery, For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
