Obituary of Helen Melissa Lyons

Helen Melissa (Ward) Lyons, wife of the late Astley Lyons, formerly of Doaktown, NB, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021 at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen at the age of 99 years. Born on December 11, 1921 in Storeytown, NB, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle (Storey) Ward. Helen was a past member of Anglican Church Women, Historical Society and Doaktown Senior Citizens Club. She was currently residing close to family in St. Stephen.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Rowena Braysford of St. Stephen; two grandsons, Bruce Braysford (Alta) of St. Stephen, Troy Lyons (Susie) of St. Andrews; six great-grandchildren, Shawna, Zachary, Chris, Nicole (Jeramy), Timmy and Ross; two great-great-grandchildren, Gavin and Caroline; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Lyons of St. Andrews; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by her son, Allen Lyons; son-in-law, Stephen Braysford; grandsons, Johnny Lyons and Brent Braysford; sisters, Tessie Betts, Katie Redstone, Sada Ward; and brother, Alan Ward.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery (Clay Hill), Doaktown, NB on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 2 pm with Rev. Neil Osiowy officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the St. Stephen Senior Complex and Floor One, Palliative Care at the Charlotte County Hospital for all their loving care. Remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
