Obituary of Lori Lee Saunders

Please share a memory of Lori to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with sad and heavy hearts that the family of Lori Saunders (Hillman) announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Friday, April 16, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease.

Lori is survived by her loving husband of 30 ½ years, Stewart Saunders; mother, Barb Hillman; sisters, Wendy Bird (Jim), Linda Hillman, Cindy Cunningham (Jay), Patti Harris (Myles) and Barbara Hillman; brother in law, Steven Saunders (Glenda); sister in law, Patricia Clowater (Jeff); numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles.

Lori was predeceased by her father, Neil Hillman; father in law, John Saunders; mother in law, Maxine Saunders; and her grandparents.

She was an employee of the Province of New Brunswick for 42 years retiring in April of 2020.  Lori was an active member of the Douglas Baptist Church and spent many years working with youth ministries which held a special place in her heart.  She was also an original member of the Back Road Believers Bible Study group.

Lori was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing and when health wouldn’t permit was happy with a cart ride along providing husband Stewart with yardages and swing tips.  In the past year Lori became an enthusiastic ATV fan enjoying a day on the trails with friends and family complete with a camp fire lunch break.

Lori loved her family and her countless friends, all will miss her dearly, her warm smile, her kind and generous heart and the “Lori Stories”.  May the memory of her friendship and love be a blessing to all that knew her.  Not a day went by when Lori wasn’t grateful to her cousin Mark for his incredible gift of a kidney.

Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions and concerns there will be no visitation.  A Memorial Service by invitation only will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1 pm from the Douglas Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Moore officiating.  The service can also be viewed through https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1AhQ8iOpbCGEiy5X-yMZgw.  Interment will take place in the Prince William Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
