Obituary of Evelyn Marjorie McGee

With heavy hearts the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Evelyn McGee which occurred on April 11, 2021 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  

The daughter of the late Byard and Lily (Bernard) Smith, she was born on December 2, 1924 in Springfield, NB.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survived by her two sons, Richard McGee (Carole-Ann) and Bob McGee (Joan); her four grandchildren who made her very proud, Kelly Cormier (Roland), Jeff McGee (Laura), Lisa McGee and Jennifer McGee (Mike); her four great granddaughters who brought a smile to her face, Zana Grace Bone, Alexa Jade Bone, Harleigh Gwendolyn McGee and Kinsley Evelyn McGee; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Jack of 70 years, her only daughter, Wendy McGee and infant great granddaughter, Audrey Elizabeth McGee.  Also, her two brothers, Carl Smith and Murray Smith; and two sisters, Jean McAllister and Velma Smith.

Evelyn was active in the St. Mary's Anglican Church where she sang in the choir for over 60 years.  She volunteered for 25 years in the gift shop at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  She was also a life member of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Auxiliary and a member of St. Mary's ACW.

A Service of Holy Eucharist will be held by invitation only from St. Mary's Anglican Church, 780 McEvoy Street, Fredericton, NB on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2 pm with Archdeacon Kevin Stockall officiating.  The service can also be viewed through https://m.facebook.com/YorkFH/.  Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.  Remembrances may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice. 

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Paradise Villa, her home for the past few years.  She will be missed by the many friends she made during her time there.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
