Obituary of Elsie Anne Cleveland

The passing of Elsie Anne Cleveland of Stanley, NB wife of the late Boyd Cleveland occurred on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on February 7, 1933 in Stanley, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jesse (Keenan) McAloon. Elsie was a well known seamstress and worked at the Old Stanley Hospital and the Original Nashwaak Villa as a cook.  Elsie was a member of the CWL since 1955; she was also a member of the Ward Settlement Women’s Institute.  Elsie enjoyed curling with her friends. She was an avid quilter and was a winner in many different categories at the Stanley Fair.  Elsie loved her grandchildren, and will be remembered for her love of a good joke and quick wit. 

Elsie is survived by her children, Richard Cleveland (Jacquie), Ralph Cleveland, Wayne Cleveland, Theresa McColl, Elaine Ross (Roger) and Daniel Cleveland (Heather); 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was predeceased by her sisters, Mary and Louise; brothers, Louis, Roy “Jigs”, Walter and Harry "Peanut".

There will be no services at this time due to the current health situation; a Memorial Service will take place at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Stanley, NB with the interment in the church cemetery at a later date.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Just For Friends Food Bank, Stanley, NB.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
