Obituary of Alma Calvert

Please share a memory of Alma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Alma" Calvert, wife of Frank Calvert of Fredericton, NB, at York Care Centre on Saturday, September 19, 2020.  Born on May 21, 1926 in Durham Center, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Emma (Duguay) Furlotte. Alma was a dedicated wife, mother, and nurse. She loved her work as an RNA, stopping only to raise their children before re-certifying and continuing to work until retirement at York Care Centre. She was a very social part of York Care as a resident in later years. Proud of her heritage she could often be heard introducing herself, and asking "Hello Honey...are you Irish?".

In addition to her husband of 69 years, Frank, Alma is survived by her daughters: Karen Gallagher (Harold) of Keswick Ridge, Peggy Clements (Richard) of Cape Traverse, PE, Elizabeth Currie of Douglas, Patti Short (Mitchell) of Riverview; grandchildren, Jered and Megan Currie, Sarah and Emily Short; and great grandchildren, Logan Currie, Lola, Phoebe and Isaac MacDonald.

Alma was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Allen Calvert; and five brothers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of York Funeral Home. A Private Graveside Service will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery with Pastor Normand MacDonald officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the York Foundation or Alzheimer Society.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
