Obituary of Iona Priscilla O'Donnell
September 9th marks the passing of a great spirit and special lady, Iona O’Donnell. After a long battle with congestive heart disease, she left this world at home surrounded by people she loved and those that loved her most and will mourn her deeply. Iona was born in Carroll’s Crossing, NB in 1936 and started traveling at an early age to work in the US and then with her first husband to live in Germany traveling Europe during a tour in the military. Iona had a long career in geriatrics and served her community doing what she did best, looking after people and making sure they felt a caring hand on their shoulder. Iona was especially grateful for being able to help raise her three grandchildren. She lived to see them grow into the wonderful ladies they have become and shared in their every success. Iona loved to laugh and her smiles brightened any room she was in, she brought joy to every life she touched and the world is truly a shade darker without her in it.
Iona is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Ashley Price; step daughter, Nicole and husband Joey Porter; three grandchildren, Mirriah Home and husband Tylor, Katelyn Porter, Lauren Porter; and one great grandchild, Jaxon Home; as well as her son Aaron Peterson and his wife Mary. Mom would have especially liked to mention how proud she was of the woman Nicole has grown into and who she felt was her daughter always. She worked tirelessly throughout Mom’s health issues to provide care with the patience of Job and love of a saint just like my Mom’s example.
Visitation will be held with restrictions in place at York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7861 Route 8, New Bandon on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 12 – 2 pm.
