Obituary of Ernie Garnier

GARNIER, ERNEST “ERNIE” JOHN

The passing of Ernest “Ernie” John Garnier of Jemseg, NB, husband of Gladys “Eva” (Steeves) Garnier occurred on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 22, 1944 in St. Fintan, NL, he was the son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Fraser) Garnier.  Ernie served in the Canadian Military working for the Department of National Defence for 25 years (MCpl).

In addition to his wife, Ernie is survived by his sons, Eric Garnier (Wendy) of Carter’s Point, NB and Jason Garnier of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Ethan, Angus and Mason; sisters, Teresa Gillis of Corner Brook, NL and Claudine Dessurreault of St.-Tite, QC; brother, Raymond Garnier of Norris Arm, NL; several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his sisters, Lorraine Cuff, Gloria Fudge and brother, Frank Gillis.

Due to the current health situation a Memorial Service by invitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating.  Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB at a later date.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
