It is with great sadness that the family of Nicholas James Minty Lawrence, husband of Joni (Williams) announces his passing at Hospice Fredericton on Friday, May 29, 2020 surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 41. Born in Saint John, NB Nick was the son of Clinton and Rhonda (Minty) Lawrence.

Nick will be deeply missed by his loving wife and her children Ryan and Leah who he loved dearly, his parents, devoted brother Steve (Jessica) Lawrence, his nephews Macade and Nash, special Old Auntie Peg (Barry) Barkwell and his beloved dog Roxy.

Nick accomplished so much in his lifetime. Following high school (FHS 96) and UNB (BBA 01) he earned his CA designation and had a very successful and progressive career in the accounting profession. Beginning his 19 year career with Grant Thornton LLP in Fredericton and joining Teed Saunders Doyle as Audit Partner in 2017. Nick loved to travel and his work gave him the opportunity to see the world, meeting clients in India, South America, Europe and the United States. Nick was passionate about his work and the people he worked with.

Nick was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, running and especially basketball. He completed several half marathons, was very proud of his hole in one and was known as a gifted player on provincial and high school basketball teams. Nick gave back to the city he loved as a mentor for the business incubator programs at UNB Fredericton and served on the board of Sports New Brunswick as treasurer and president for several terms.

Above all else, Nick was a great friend. He looked forward to annual trips with friends to see F1 races, Toronto Raptors games, wrestling matches, football games, hiking adventures, a good debate and took every opportunity to spend time with new and old friends. He shared his positive outlook and fun loving spirit with everyone who knew him.

Nick was predeceased by his grandparents Arthur and Katie Lawrence, Ronald and Mildred Minty.

To the staff and volunteers of the DECH oncology clinic and palliative care unit as well as Hospice Fredericton the family would like to express our sincere gratitude for your care and compassion during Nick’s illness.
