Obituary of Leonard Earlen MacFarlane

Please share a memory of Leonard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With sadness from the bottom of our hearts, we share the passing of a kind and gentle soul, Len MacFarlane, known to his loving sisters simply as ‘Bub’. Len suffered a heart attack, at home. We have lost a husband, a father, a grandfather, and best friend.  We have lost the center of our family.

Len was born in Fredericton, N.B. On November 18th, 1955 to Ron MacFarlane and the late Joan MacFarlane. He grew up with 3 wonderful sisters; Elizabeth (Larry), Sharon (Doug), and Debby (Ken). He is survived by his loving wife Claire MacFarlane, his daughters Leah Rae (Matthew Carle) and Sarah Kate (Marc Labelle), his grandchildren Andy, Jack, and Fred, his best friend Luc Plourde, his mother in-law Lois Eldridge, and his pride and joy fur babies Bear and Bailey. Len also leaves behind many many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who he loved as family.

For the last 26 years, Len worked as a civil engineer for Fundy Contractors Ltd. and previously for Atlas Construction.  He made many friends over his career.

Len lived a wonderful life, full of people who loved and admired him and who he loved and admired equally. A special mention to his shooting buddies and his early morning gym crew for the special memories over the years, and his “other kids” Bill and Alice Lamey. Len’s bright smile and welcoming demeanour made him easy to be around.  He loved a great intellectual conversation as much as sitting around at the lake shooting the breeze with beer in hand. Len helped everyone and seemed to know how to do just about everything. He was loved and will be missed deeply.

There will be no funeral or visitation. A celebration will be held at a later date. Len and his family would love for you to remember him by raising a glass in his honour and smiling at a fond memory of a time spent with Len.
