Obituary of Kathryn E. McCrea
McCrea, Kathryn Elaine (Landers)
June 16, 1930 – May 25, 2020
Kathryn McCrea (age 89) of Fredericton, NB, passed peacefully to her eternal rest at York Care Centre on Monday, May 25, 2020. Kathryn was the only daughter of George P. and Marion B. (Sollows) Landers of Sandford, NS.
She will be sorely missed by her husband of 68 plus years, T. Alton McCrea (Fredericton, NB); her four children, David (Tanya) McCrea, Marilyn McCrea-Davis, Courtney McCrea, and Chipp (Cheryl) McCrea; seven grandchildren, Treena, Maggie, Laine, Jared, Breanna, Erin and Alex; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Abagael, Michael, Cory, Grace, Julia, Andrew, Wesley, and Tiffany; as well as nieces and nephews.
Kathryn is survived by one brother, Wendell Landers (Amherst, NS) and his family. She was predeceased by her brothers, Georgie Landers (Sandford, NS), Burton Landers (Sandford, NS) and Earle Landers (Lakeville, MA); as well as granddaughter, Breanna Davis.
Family Tribute: Kathryn was a true household engineer (stay-at-home Mum) and ‘lady of the house’. She lived to give selflessly to her family. She was very much a loving perfectionist! Nothing out of place; everything in its place. Her pass-times were playing the old hymns on her piano, puzzling, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, knitting, and baking. In Kathryn’s home(s), the smells of freshly-baked homemade bread/rolls, donuts, cake, pies, cookies, and our favourite brownies were ever-present, daily expressions of her care for us. Kathryn’s family was so truly blessed and will continue to be, by her gift of cherished memories!
Due to the COVID restrictions, there will be no funeral service, visitation, or committal planned at this time. Reception and graveside interment will be held at a later date, allowing out-of-province family to attend.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of York Care Centre for their attentive care of Kathryn through the progression of her difficult illness.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
