IRVING, DOROTHY

April 30, 1926 to May 23, 2020

Our loving mother, Dorothy G. Irving (Johnston) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at York Care Centre. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Kenneth H. Irving.  A proud and loving mother to daughter, Elaine ( John Hart) and son, Blaine (Holly) and an adoring nanny to granddaughters, Jenny Irving (Hayden MacNeil), Mindy Irving (Jordie Green) and Kara Hart (Dan and Joss Peters) as well as a great nanny to Ruby, Levi and Bessie MacNeil.

Born in Tower Hill, NB she was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Carrie (Gilman) Johnston, her sisters, Myrtle, Rita, Faith, Grace and brothers, Aubrey and Bernard.

Graduating in 1973 from Capital Business College, she worked as a secretary for the New Brunswick Development Corporation and the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church, enjoyed quilting, knitting, rug hooking, bowling, square dancing, golfing, travelling and her New Maryland Bible Study family. She also loved to share her gift of hospitality and was an amazing cook. The unwavering dedication to her family and friends will be profoundly missed, but so lovingly remembered.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of York Care Centre for their support and dedicated care.

With the current restrictions on gatherings due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation. There will be a private family service at this time and a Celebration of Life at a later date. For those who wish, a memorial contribution may be made to St. Paul's United Church, IWK or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. Personal Condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com

Mother leaves you with a favorite quote “Other things may change us but we START and END with FAMILY”
