DUNN, NELSON LEO

The passing of Nelson Leo Dunn of Fredericton, NB, loving husband of 66 years to Janet (Casey) Dunn, occurred on March 28, 2020 at York Care Centre.  Born on June 2, 1931 in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Beatrice (Rennie) and Richard Leo Dunn.

Nelson was a gentle soul who loved helping others and making people smile, and derived his greatest joy from spending time with his family. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humour, quick wit, and ability to entertain. His belief in community was reflected in his passion for volunteering, organizing events, and fundraising. His many hobbies included playing the keyboard, traveling, coin collecting, fishing, bowling, darts, carpentry, and watching his Toronto Maple Leafs.  He served with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years before moving on to a career as a real estate agent. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, and he attended St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Nelson is survived by daughter, Valerie Gallant (Paul) of Fredericton; sons, John Dunn of Montreal, Richard Dunn (Linda) of Aylmer, Quebec; sister, Lorraine Casey of Halifax; grandchildren, Tyler-James Gallant, Matthew Dunn, Melanie Dunn (Michel), David Dunn (Jessica), Jacob Dunn (Sarah), Joshua Dunn; 4 great grandchildren; and, several nieces and nephews.
