Obituary of Harold Reid Simmons

SIMMONS, HAROLD REID 

It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Harold Reid Simmons, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He peacefully went into the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on April 5, 1940 in Picton, ON, he was the son of the late Sanford and Bernice (Reid) Simmons. Harold worked as an Executive in the Automotive Transporting Industry and was an Entrepreneur. He was a member of the Church of The Nazarene; was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing, boating and especially loved spending time with his family.  Harold will be remembered for his humour and story telling ability.

Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Powell) Simmons; children, Janine Weis (Bernie) of London, ON, Janet Simmons of Fredericton, NB, John Simmons of Fredericton, NB, Jennifer Gardiner (Paul) of Fredericton, NB and Krista Cassidy (Chris) of Brockville, ON; grandchildren, Brandon, Kristine, Evan, Alex, Liam, Josh, Sarah, Michael, Darian, Kathryn and Reid; sisters, Florence Simmons of St. Thomas, ON , and Ellen Stevenson of Picton, ON. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 4-7 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 2 pm with Annabella San Jose officiating.  Interment will take place in Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
