Obituary of Kimberly Ann Long
LONG, KIMBERLY ANN
With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Kimberly Ann Long of Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Kim leaves her loving husband, Larry Brown and two daughters, Megan and Paige Brown. Kim will be missed dearly by her parents, Ernest and Juanita Long (O’Donnell) and sister, Ernestine Long (Mark Price). Kim was predeceased by her eldest sister, Theresa Levesque. Kim was an affectionate aunt to her nieces, Jennifer (Jonathan Waye), Melinda (Blake Kelly), Rachelle (Aaron Bowes), Abby, Lexi as well as her great nephews, Cole, Benjamin, and Hunter. She will be greatly missed by her great niece Callie with whom she loved as a granddaughter. Kim also had many close friends, family, and colleagues who all admired her strength, determination and the constant love she shared.
Kim was born on April 8, 1963 and spent her childhood living in McNamee, NB. A gifted student and athlete, Kim graduated high school when she was 16-years-old before moving to Fredericton to pursue post-secondary education at the University of New Brunswick. It was during this time she met her devoted husband of 31 years. Following her time at university Kim began her career with the Government of New Brunswick, where she worked for several years, making lifelong friends with many of her colleagues. During her successful career Kim worked in many capacities with the Department of Social Development. She was an active member of the board of directors for the Fredericton Residential Youth Services program from 1994 until her passing, a project that she was deeply passionate about.
Kim’s family would like to extend their gratitude to her physicians, the specialists at the DECH and the wonderful care she received from the Extramural program and the Stan Cassidy Centre.
Visitation will be held York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 2-3 pm, followed by a memorial service at 3 pm with Father Neil Osiowy. For those who wish, donations may be made in Kimberly’s name to the Stan Cassidy Foundation, MS Society or charity of your choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
