Obituary of Herschel Kent McKinney

MCKINNEY, HERSCHEL “GABBY” KENT

The passing of Herschel “Gabby” Kent McKinney of Fredericton, NB, husband of Mary (Prince) McKinney, occurred on February 26, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on April 7, 1941 in Fosterville, NB, he was the son of the late Robert and Patricia (Howe) MacKinney. Herschel retired in 1996 after 37 years as a civil servant with the New Brunswick Provincial Government. He was a member of Wilmot United Church.

In addition to Mary, his loving wife of 53 years, Herschel is survived by his son, Kent McKinney (Stacey) of Fredericton; and his precious grandson, Sam; sister in law, Genevieve MacKinney; nephew, Derrek Barton (Kim); niece, Valerie Barton.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Glenda Barton; and brothers, Robert and Warner MacKinney; nephew, Philip Barton.

Arrangements are in the care of York Funeral Home. At Herschel's request, there will be no public services at this time. A Private Celebration of Herschel’s Life will be held at a later date.
