STEEN, DOROTHY J. (HANSON)

The passing of Dorothy J. Steen (Hanson), wife of the late Warren Steen, occurred on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Pine Grove Nursing Home.  Born on May 7, 1925 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Jennie (Allen) Hanson of Marysville, NB.  Dorothy was the best, most wonderful wife and mother in the world, she was loving, kind and giving, always looking after others.  She was a loyal member of Wilmot United Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and worked hard with the United Church Women’s group.  Dorothy was a great swimmer and taught many others how to swim.  She loved her cottage at French Lake, hosting many family and friend get-togethers. She loved playing cards which included 45’s, canasta and bridge. Dorothy’s cooking expertise was widely known, especially her doughnuts and sugar cookies, her jars were always full.  She was a good singer and had many Christmas carol sing-alongs at her home.  Dorothy took up oil painting at a later age and was very happy to share her paintings with her family and friends.  She will be missed by all her friends in Florida, where she and Warren spent many winters.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Betty Craig (Paul) and son, Jim Steen (Wanda); three grandchildren, Jeffrey Craig (Cindy), Brent Craig (Maria) and Katherine Steen (Mark); great grandchildren, Ashlee and Marci (Branden), Sarah (Jesse) and Jennifer Craig; one great great grandson, Max McCloskey; several nieces and nephews.
