Charles Sherlock “Lock” Davis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing in Saint John, NB. The husband of Diana P. (Anderson) Davis, Lock was born on August 31, 1932 at home in Taxis River, York Co, NB. He was the eldest son of the late Berton and Greta (Munn) Davis. Lock was a devoted husband and father and a capable man with remarkable memory skills. His passion for reading and reciting lead him to entertaining with Robert Service poems, cowboy poetry and any other poem he found interesting. Lock has traveled extensively with the military and with his own adventures in Canada, Europe and UK, Asia, Africa and USA. One of his greatest triumphs was his recitals of Robert Service verse at the RS cabin in Dawson City, Yukon.

 

He is survived by his wife Diana; one son, Farran  Davis of Fredericton; four daughters, Cora Morecraft of Fredericton, Rose (Cyril) Bulger of Bath, Gail Malleley of Fredericton and Cindy Davis of Red Deer, AB; two stepsons, Bart (Collyne) Pickles of Kelowna, BC and Brent Pickles of Toronto; one stepdaughter, Teana Pickles of Calgary; two brothers, Hubert (Doreen) Davis of Boiestown and Kent “Mick” ( Carol) Davis of Boiestown; one sister, Eva (Charlie) Lovelace of Boiestown; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins.

 

Lock was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Greta Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Clarence McKay.

 

Arrangements are in the care of York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. At Lock’s request, there will be no visitation or Funeral Service. Interment will be at Boiestown United Cemetery with family, friends and graveside memories at a later date. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
