Obituary of Donna Lynn Janzen McKillop

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donna Lynn Janzen McKillop was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 26, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Allan and Margaret (Whittington) Janzen and step-father, Larry Gislason. She grew-up in Winnipeg and later met the love of her life, Kevin McKillop while he was working there.

They married and were posted to Comox, BC, and Calgary, AB, before they settled in Fredericton, NB. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Kevin McKillop. Her beautiful children, Chris McKillop (VY Ngo) of Fredericton and Sharon (Andrew) Brown of Forest Glen; her sisters, Janice (Bill Predergast) Janzen, and Diane (David) McKeever of Winnipeg; her uncle, Frank (Anita) and David; aunt Joyce; several nieces and nephews.

Donna passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020 surrounded by family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Donna will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She found it hard to live away from her family at first. However, she made many friends at McLeod Hill Assembly and through the Friends of International Students that would soon become like family. Donna was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2012. She completed over 48 rounds of chemotherapy and 15 rounds of radiation. She was a fighter and was determined to be there for her family. She said that she just took it one day at a time, and tried to remember to remain positive and trust God through it all. Donna was always up for an adventure! She loved hanging out with her friends, going swimming, reading, going out to eat, going on trips, and going to concerts. She served God and helped others whenever she could. When she stopped working due to illness she started volunteering at Greenwood Drive Baptist Church's clothing bank. She was determined to volunteer every week, even when she was going through treatment.

Thank-you to Joanne Adsett for taking her to numerous chemotherapy and radiation appointments. Thank-you so much to all of her brothers and sisters from McLeod Hill Assembly who offered our family drives, meals, prayers, and support over the years.  Thank-you to Paulo for all of your support and for helping us to have one last wonderful Christmas together. Thank-you to the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Saint John Regional Hospital for taking such wonderful care of Donna.
