Obituary of Charles Bramble

Bramble, Charles Albert Walter, 1922 –2013 Charlie Bramble of Maugerville passed away peacefully on May 19th. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Alberta (Harding) and his son Eldon Bramble. He is survived by children, Neil (Ann) Bramble of Surrey, BC, Denver (Arlene) Bramble and Ardeth (George) Glenwright of Maugerville, Bev (Susan Currie) Bramble and Winnie (Tom) Dimock of Fredericton; daughter-in law Edna Bramble of Maugerville; grandchildren Crystal (Bill) McGowan of Richmond, BC, Colleen (Colin) Peters of Coquitlam, BC, Charles (Tracy) Sigurdson of Calgary Alta., Ann-Marie Glenwright, Jordan (Veronica) Bramble, Jerrilyn Bramble, Alex Bramble, Letisha (Grant) Leman, and Andrea (Myles) Ashton, all of Fredericton, John (Cheryl) Glenwright of Moncton, Katherine Bramble (Hooman Vafakhah) of Edmonton Alta., Michael Bramble of London, Ontario, great-grandchildren Melodie (Brad) Hendy, Allayne McGowan, Scott McGowan, Reghan Peters, Ryan Peters, Ethan Sigurdson, Sophie Sigurdson, and Maverick Leman; sisters Jean Payne of Lower Sackville, NS and Mabel Greenslade of Craft’s Cove, NB; brother Kenneth Mott of Sussex, NB; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings: Rose Wilson, David Bramble, Lucy Todd, May Carson, and Harold Mott. Charlie was born in Clarktown, NB, on his beloved Washademoak Lake. He continued to visit and enjoyed sharing memories of his childhood home throughout his life. Charlie served with the 7th anti-tank regiment of the 104th Battery during the Second World War as an anti-tank gunner. After the war, Charles and his family lived in Maugerville, where he farmed for many years; later worked for Hogan’s Grocery and Millar Motors, and for many years, until his retirement, at Atlantic Fire and Safety. Charles and Alberta had a long and happy retirement together. Charlie was always happy, humming or singing a tune, well loved by everyone in his family, community, and church. He was a faithful and dedicated pillar of the Maugerville United Baptist Church. He provided his constant support and service in many roles and cherished his church family. He was responsible for the care and oversight of the Maugerville Baptist Cemetery for many years. After retirement Charlie became an active member of Branch #4 of the Royal Canadian Legion, visiting sick and elderly members and participating in the annual poppy campaign. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Maugerville United Baptist Church on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2 pm, the Rev. Stephen Budd officiating. Interment will be in the Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Brach #4 are asked to assemble at York Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 6 pm for a Tribute Service. The family would especially like to thank the Veteran’s Health Unit for the exceptional care he received from the wonderful staff and Veterans Affairs for making such care possible, and the DECH 4NW staff.
