The unexpected passing of Douglas “Doug” Grant Fowler of Fredericton, NB, husband of Betty (MacKay) Fowler, occurred on Friday, May 03, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 27, 1942 in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Winnfield and Helen (Flewelling) Fowler. Doug retired in 1996 from the Provincial Government Tax Department after many years of service. He was a motorcycle instructor for over 30 years in Prince Edward Island, Saint John and Fredericton, NB. He was a member of the Fredericton Motorcycle Club for 25 years, the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Club and a member of NB Safety Council. He enjoyed participating in Civil War Reenactments. Doug and Betty have enjoyed vacationing in Bradenton, FL for the past 16 years.
In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his daughters, Michelle Bradley (David) of Utah and their children, Natasha (Poe), Gabriel, Nathaniel, Zachery and Brianna; Meredith Wilcox (Barrett) of Idaho and their children, Cayden, Quinn, Connor and Camryn Wilcox; great grandson, Andrew Poe; brothers, Bev Fowler (Betty) of Breadalbane, PE and Eric Fowler (Colleen) of Grand Bay, NB; sister-in-law, Sandra Howard (Roland) of Margate, PE; brother-in-law, Kenny MacKay (Jackie) of Niagara Falls, ON; nieces and nephews, Adam and Doug Fowler, Steven and Sue Fowler; mother-in-law, Irene MacKay. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his grandson, Benjamin Bradley.
There will be no visitation or service at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
