Obituary of Fred Fowler

The passing of Fred “Allan” Fowler, husband of Margaret (Scott) Fowler, of Holtville, occurred on Tuesday, May 2, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 12, 1936 in Holtville, he was a son of the late Fred and Thelma (Hunter) Fowler. Allan was a retired sawmill foreman who worked for many years at Blackville Lumber. He was a licensed Industrial Mechanic who had previously worked for Ashley Colters, Gill’s & Sons, Grand Lake Timber and various other companies. He was affiliated with the Boiestown United Church. Known as the “Mayor of Dungarvon Country” he loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his camp in Dungarvon. Besides his wife, Allan is survived by his daughters, Debbie Munn (Michael) and Brenda Fowler (Ivan Munn) both of Bloomfield Ridge; sons, Steven of Holtville and Geoffrey Fowler (Tonya White) of Nashwaak Village; grandchildren, Douglas, Adam, Devin, Julian, Zachary and Tanner; great grandchildren, Keon, Hope and Hunter; sisters, Eva Fowler (Orville Pond) of Porter Cove, Ethel Spencer (Terry) of Holtville and Helena Samsonoff (Nick) of BC; brothers, Owen (Debbie) of Marysville, Darrell (Pat) of Durham, Nelson (Julia) of Kingston Peninsula, James (Glenna) of Fredericton and John (Gertie) of Astle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Gerry Ellery and Freda Hood and his brother, Calvin. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Murray McFarlane officiating. Interment will take place at Cameron Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
