Obituary of Thomas Fleming

The passing of Thomas Fleming of Keswick Ridge, NB, husband of Sheila (Williams) Fleming occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 1, 1922 in Manchester, England, he was the son of the late Thomas and Edith (Richardson) Fleming. A decorated Royal Naval officer, he saw action in both the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II. Following the War, Thomas was employed in the aerospace engineering field with Ferranti plc. In 1977, he immigrated to Canada and worked as an Engineer with NB Power. An avid curler, Thomas belonged to the Capital Winter Club. He also enjoyed woodworking and boating at Mactaquac. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his two sons, Paul Fleming (Maureen) of Fredericton, NB and Gary Fleming (Shona) of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Iain and Megan; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene; brothers, Don and Charles. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
