Obituary of Bessie Hoar

The passing of Bessie Caroline (Wyers) Hoar, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late John Hoar, occurred on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on May 22, 1917 in Glenlevit, NB, she was a daughter of the late John “Jack” and Caroline (Hennigar) Pollock. She was the only girl in the family of nine brothers. She and Cliff had a farm outside of Campbellton for many years, in 1960 they moved to Keswick Ridge. She worked for MacKay’s Meat Shop for 15 years. After Cliff passed away, later she married John Hoar. She stayed active caring for people, knitting and cooking. Bessie was faithful to her religion and will be remembered as having a very giving personality and a friend to many with a heart of gold. Bessie is survived by her daughter, Sheila Wyers Martin (Douglas Fraser) of Fredericton, NB; her son, Bill Wyers (Susan) of Keswick Ridge, NB; five grandchildren, Chris Martin (Andrea Cooper), Mark Martin (LeeAnn Steeves), Julie Martin (Gilles Parisé), Barry Wyers (Kim) and Cheyanne Wyers Culbert (Tim); 10 great grandchildren; brother, Guy Pollock of Huntsville, ON; sister in law, Mary Moffatt; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Bessie was predeceased by her first husband, Clifford Wyers and eight brothers. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 2 pm with Albert Clark and Lucy Warren officiating. Interment will take place at Pickard Merrithew Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Parkinson Society or the Pine Grove Foundation.
