Obituary of Erika Cloutier

It is with heavy hearts that the children of Erika Cloutier announce the passing of their mother on April 14, 2013, who died peacefully at York Care Centre (formerly from Crockett Street) with her family at her side. Born April 4, 1923 in Sudentenland, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Hulda (Kretschmer). Erika was predeceased by her husband, Jean Paul Cloutier, in 1997 after 43 years of marriage. Also predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Erika was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Erika is survived by her 5 children, Robert (Sharon), Rosie (Rob), Marguerite (Ira), Margot (Eric), Richard (Marian), along with 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Erika, known to loved ones as Omi, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Erika worked at the Cotton Mill and later at the family restaurant, Riverside Diner. Upon her retirement she enjoyed taking long walks on “her walking trail”, volunteering at the soup kitchen and at Our Lady of Fatima Church where she was a member of the parish since it was built in 1961. Mom was always happy to have visitors at her home and later at York Care Center. A special thanks to the staff at York Center for their kindness shown to Mom, along with Dr. Jeff Barton and Dr. Paul Kerr. Special thanks to Rosemary and Jerzy Lompierz, Eleanor from Hawkins House and Rev. Aaron Knox for their visits and prayers. Although there will be no visitation by request, a Funeral Mass with be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Marysville on Thursday, April 18th at 2 pm with Rev. Aaron Knox as celebrant, assisted by Rev. Dr. Michael McGowan. A private burial will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church.
