Obituary of Corinne Norrad

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Corinne Marie-Mai Norrad of Fredericton, NB, wife of Richard “Dick” Norrad, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 3, 1935 in St. Hilaire, NB, she was the daughter of the late Damase and Yvonne (Sirois) Albert. She was a faithful member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church. Corinne arrived in Fredericton in 1959 to work as the secretary for the Chairman of the Power Commission. Following that, she took time off to raise her children. After 18 years she re-entered the workforce and became the Principal Secretary for five consecutive Lieutenant Governors from 1980-1998. It is for this service that she was named a member of the Royal Victorian Order, an honour presented to her by Queen Elizabeth II in October 1998. Corinne loved to travel and was very fortunate to see much of the world. Mom loved to dance, play golf and cards and could even be found making an occasional visit to a casino. She especially enjoyed having “ploye” parties with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband, Corinne is survived by her children, Carol Salmon, Mike Norrad and Janet Ramey all of Fredericton, NB and Mia Richelle (Brian) of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Adam, Ben, Erin and Colin; siblings, Evelyne Houle of Montreal, QC, Lucille Chiasson of Toronto, ON, Annette Paradis of Madawaska, ME and Laurette Emery (Claude) of St. Leonard, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Esther Raspin and Jeannine Bouchard; brothers, Euclide, Egilde, Father Camille, Louis and Guy Albert. Visitations will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 12 noon with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
