Obituary of Lloyd DeLong

The passing of Lloyd George DeLong, husband of the late Yvonne “Bonnie” (MacDonald) DeLong, occurred on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 11, 1922 in Nashwaaksis, NB, he was a son of the late George and Lena (Haines) DeLong. Lloyd was a retired self employed painting contractor. He served overseas during World War II and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4. Lloyd was also a member of Gibson Memorial United Church. Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Linda Wishart (Robert) of Hampton, NB, Nancy DeLong (Mike) of Saint John, NB, Valerie Fowler (Owen) of Lower St. Mary’s, NB, Sandra Reichert of Winnipeg, MN, Brenda Bursey (Randy) of Fredericton, NB and Shirley VanWaes (Steven) of London, ON; sons, Daryl DeLong (Gwen) of Fredericton, NB and Robert DeLong of Alberta; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Lloyd was predeceased by a son, Douglas; sisters, Myrtle Clark, Hazel Kitchen, Helen Haines and Irma Estey; brothers, William and Roland DeLong. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care provided to Dad by Dr. K. Srinivasan and her staff as well as the staff of Governor Hall, Shannex. Although there will be no visitation by request, a Memorial Service will be held from Gibson Memorial United Church on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at 1 pm for a Tribute Service. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.
