Obituary of Marmie Simms

The passing of Marmie (Burtt) Simms of Fredericton, NB, occurred peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2013 at York Manor. Born on November 5, 1911 in Burtts Corner, NB, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Blanche (Cooke) Burtt and the wife of the late Donald W. Simms. Marmie is survived by her daughter, Liz Simms of Lakeville Corner, NB; grandchildren, Andrew Haines of Fredericton, NB, Kari Haines (Paul Losier) of Fredericton, NB and Jennifer Haines (Shawn MacKenzie) of Ashland, NB; great-grandchildren, Carmel and Luc Losier; a brother, Ralph Burtt (Joyce) of Fredericton, NB; and several nieces and nephews. Marmie was predeceased by her brothers Guy, Russell, Roy, her sisters Laura Wood and Jean Boone and her husband of 63 years, Donald. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Tower 3 at York Care Centre for their superior care and comfort given to Marmie during her stay there. There will be no visitation by request. A service celebrating her century long life will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 2 pm with her niece Reverend Dr. Cynthia Chenard officiating.
