Obituary of Arden Gorman

The passing of Arden Leroy Gorman, husband of Mary “Izetta” (Lindsay) Gorman, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 28, 1924 in Millville, NB, he was a son of the late John and Della (Hoyt) Gorman. Arden was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Royal Canadian Army in Canada, UK and NW Europe. He served in the militia with the 6th Independent Signal Squadron, retiring as a Sgt. Major. He worked as a mechanic at Wood Motors Ford and also worked for NB Power. Arden was affiliated with Gibson Memorial United Church; the Mic Mac Trailer Club; Fiddlehead Camper and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4. Arden enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, he also was an avid reader and will be remembered as “Mr. Fix It”. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Paulette Billings (Arnold) of Hainesville, NB, Pamela Harrison (Gerald) of Harvey, NB and Wanda Clark (Chris Gullison) of Giants Glen, NB; sons, Gordon Richardson (Audrey) of Beaverdam, NB and Arnold Gorman (Diane) of Saint John, NB; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Jewett of Fredericton, NB, Paula Crouse of Fredericton, NB and Pauline Foster of Ontario; brothers, Loren Gorman of Millville, NB, Carl Gorman (Helena) of Nova Scotia and Earl Gorman of Yoho Lake, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Arden was predeceased by his sisters, Jacqueline Gorman, Maxine Jones (Murray) and Ruth Brawn; sisters-in-law, Ellen Gorman and Lorna Gorman; brothers-in-law, Irvine Jewett, LaBaron Crouse and Clinton Foster. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Friday at 6:45 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from Gibson Memorial United Church, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating; Rev. Carl and Rev. Loren Gorman assisting. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton, NB in the spring.
