Obituary of Josephine McCann

The passing of Josephine Catherine McCann of Douglas, NB, wife of the late Gregory McCann occurred on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 25, 1939 in Maugerville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Constance (Ladds) Shields. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church and also a past member of the Millville Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, her flower garden and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Josephine was an extraordinary mother, Nanny and Great Nanny. She devoted her entire life to her children. She was selfless and would have done anything for them. She had a big heart and her kitchen was always open to anyone. Everyone loved her homemade bread. She will forever be in our hearts and has left an impression that no one can replace. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Margaret McCann of Harvey, NB and Ellen Dunphy (Brent) of Keswick, NB; sons, William McCann (Karen) of Keswick, NB, Jack McCann and Lorne McCann both of Douglas, NB; grandchildren, Helena (Boo Boo), Jessica and Karah McCann, Grace Dunphy, Shannon, Kristie and Jeffrey Labreque, Ryan, Christopher and Meghan Dunphy; great grandchildren, Jordis and Jessie Wilson; special grandchildren, Danielle Mann and Ashleigh Dunphy; sisters, Clara Lenetine of Kingsley, NB and Laverne Doak (Richard) of Maugerville, NB; brother-in-law, Wendall Thomas of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Riley, Mary Brewster and Theresa Thomas. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
