Obituary of Bernice Buckley

The passing of Bernice Florence Buckley of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Vincent Buckley occurred on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 24, 1920 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Arsenault) Connolly. In the early 60’s she was a member of the Womens Health Club and operated Buckley’s Bed and Breakfast at Lower Smythe Street, Bernice was also a hairdresser at Cliff’s Beauty Salon. She enjoyed curling at the Rookwood Curling Club. Bernice and Vince loved to square dance and trailered around the province and Maine scouting out new dance moves. Bernice is survived by her daughters, Marlene Brewer (Mahlon) and Lorraine Nimegeers (George) both of Fredericton, NB; sons, Robert Buckley (Barbara) of Fredericton, NB and Patrick Buckley (Shelley) of Village of Gagetown, NB; grandchildren Jillian Brewer, Greg Brewer (Suzanne), Janelle (Owen) Diamond, Tom Nimegeers (Stephanie), Kathryn Nimegeers, Leigh Buckley and Kelsey Buckley; nine great grandchildren; sister, Delima Ring of Saint John, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Bernice was predeceased by her infant son, Daniel; granddaughter, Jennifer Brewer; sisters, Gertrude McKillop, Margaret Garnett, Irene Robinson and Ruth Lance; brothers, Ronald and Lloyd Connolly. Visitation will take place at the St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 noon with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Community Food Bank, the Oromocto Community Food Bank or the Saint John Regional Hospital “Cardiac Cath Lab”.
