Obituary of Eileen Appleton

Appleton (Holt), Eileen Margaret January 3, 1919 - January 9, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of Eileen Appleton of Fredericton, formerly St. Stephen, announces that she passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James and Sarah (MacDonald) Holt. Leave to mourn with loving and fond memories are her husband, Arthur; sons, Jim Taylor (Heather) and Larry Taylor (Cindy); stepsons, Joel (Ginette) and Ian (Ann) Shaw, Jim (Heather) and Jeff (Shelley) Appleton; stepdaughter, Dorothy (Rick) Vaughan; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Elsie (Len) Peters and Audrey Suttie, and her special friend, Marie Murphy. Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her brothers, Malcolm Holt, Jim Holt, Bill Holt, Jack Holt and her sisters, Ethel Butland and Eunice Wilson. Eileen lived a full and rich life with her first husband, Harry Taylor (deceased), Rod Shaw (deceased) and for the last 34 years Arthur. She found joy in the love and laughter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was happiest in her families company. She spent many summers in Pugwash enjoying family and friends. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis United Church on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 3 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Interment will take place in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery at a later date. An expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to the Oromocto Public Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Fund, 103 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, NB E2V 1C6 Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
