Obituary of Joyce Whelan

The passing of Joyce Shirley Whelan of Fredericton, NB, wife of Bill Whelan, occurred on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on September 10, 1941 in Kirkland, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hughie and Susan (Bustard) Graham. Before retirement Joyce worked as waitress for Zellers. She loved watching baseball, especially the Red Sox and spending time with children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by her daughter, Tina Collins (Derek) of Burtts Corner, NB; sons, Peter Whelan and Jimmy Whelan (Beth Hoyt) both of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Jacob, Jamie, Brady and Makenzie; sisters, Jackie Dickinson, Jean Doak and Marion Graham all of Woodstock, NB; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kerner (Malvin) of Texas, Catherine Hourihan, Mary Carr both of Toronto, ON and Marlene Tomilson of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joyce is predeceased by her brother, Blair Graham; sisters, Marjorie Griffith and Pauline Slater; and infant grandson Dylan Vaughn Collins. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1 pm with Father John Jennings as celebrant.
