Obituary of Robert Seeley
Robert “Bob” Seeley died peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the York Care Centre at the age of 95 years. Born on January 30, 1917 in Norton, NB, he was the son of the late William and Emma Seeley. He was a retired Farmer, Lumberman, Mechanic at J.C. Clark & Sons, Canadian Tire and Wood Motors. Following his accident at the age of 44, he continued to help his son Lorne and grandson Roddy at Seeley’s Auto Sales. Bob was well respected in his community, who passionately loved his family. Dad’s quote was “I love you all, we are not to hate anyone, God wants us to love and respect, that’s what I try to do”. Bob was a member of the Centennial United Church, Nashwaak Village, Former Trustee, Honourary Member of Council and Charted Member of the Orange Lodge No. 32.
In addition to his wife, Eva (Ladds) Seeley, Bob is survived by his two sons, Lorne (Theresa) of Nashwaak Village, NB and Lester (Brenda) of Fredericton, NB; two daughters, Phyllis (John) Schwartz of Killarney, NB and Mavis Ross of Nashwaak, NB; stepchildren, Vernon (Connie) Ladds of Maugerville, NB, Christine Ladds of Maugerville, NB and Elsie (Jim) Ladds of Montreal, QC; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and first wife, Jean (Johnston) Seeley of 60 years marriage, Robert was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Seeley; stepdaughter, Dora Black; brother, Afton Seeley; two sisters, Nellie (Burrell) Graham and Eva (Lester) Adams.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the Centennial United Church, Nashwaak Village on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, Roddy Seeley, Andrew Seeley, Carman Schwartz, Stephen Schwartz, Bobby Ross and Danny Colford. Interment will take place at the Centennial United Church Cemetery. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Centennial United Church, Nashwaak Village or the charity of the donor’s choice. The Seeley family wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gordon Plummer, Doctor’s and nurses at the DECRH and Dr. Scott Robertson, nurses and staff at Hemlock Ridge - York Care Centre, for the wonderful care dad received.
