Obituary of Fraser O'Donnell
The passing of Fraser Mackenzie O’Donnell, husband of Olive (Weaver) O’Donnell of Doaktown, NB occurred on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born in New Bandon, NB on February 2, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Grace (McAleer) O’Donnell. Fraser was a Forest Ranger for 37 years and a member of St. Thomas United Church in Doaktown. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #23; Landmark Masonic Lodge, Boiestown, Doaktown Curling Club, Golf Club, Board of Governors of the NB Golf Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fraser served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Europe during WWII as a Wireless Air Gunner.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Fraser is survived by two daughters, Lila Brooks (Brian) of Ottawa, ON and Barbara O’Donnell (Wendell) of New Bandon, NB; two sons, Fraser “Tony” O’Donnell of Doaktown, NB and Larry O’Donnell (Debbie) of Durham, NB; five grandchildren, Scott, Travis, Reid, Kristin and Cindy; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Margaret, Mabel and Mona O’Donnell and several nieces and nephews.
Fraser was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Tribute Services will be held by the Royal Canadian Legion at 6:30 pm and the Masonic Lodge at 6:45 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. Thomas United Church on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 1 pm with Rev. Paul McGrattan officiating. Interment will be in St. Thomas United Cemetery.
