Obituary of Flora Wilkins
The passing of Flora Gladys Wilkins of Fredericton, NB wife of the late Melvin Lloyd Wilkins occurred on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at York Care Centre. Born on April 5, 1912 in Stanley, NB, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Christina (Carson) Plume. Flora was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, for many years and was active in the ACW and Altar Guild. She loved reading, knitting and quilting and was piecing a quilt almost to the end. Flora celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at Windsor Court.
Flora is survived by her children, Catherine Isbister (Ray), Twins, Carolyn Millar (Denys) and Perley Wilkins (Sharon); ten grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; her sister, Alice Jeffrey; Donna Bartley (Arnold); many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Flora was predeceased by her son, Lloyd Melvin; sisters, Mamie Shannon, Thelma Curtis, Etta Boone and Ella Kitchen; brothers, Bryon Plume, Ebby Plume, Billy Plume and Mac Plume.
Although there will be no visitation by Mum’s request; a Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11 am with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Reception will follow in the church hall. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
