Obituary of LeRoy Bentley

The passing of LeRoy Burpee Bentley of Fredericton, NB, husband of Gladys (Corey) Bentley occurred on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 11, 1925 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ebenezer and Mabel (Hamilton) Bentley. LeRoy was a Veteran of WWII, having served with the North Shore Regiment. He then worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and as a Bus Driver with Trius. He was a member of the Salvation Army, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #78-Boiestown, Luxor Shrine-Fire Brigade and was an Honouary Member of the Gr. Orange Lodge of Canada. LeRoy was a base drummer in the Salvation Army Corps Band and a volunteer with the Salvation Army in both Fredericton and the United States. In addition to his wife, LeRoy is survived by his son, Bernard Bentley (Wendy) of Boiestown, NB; grandchildren, Casey and Beau Bentley; great grandson, Corbin Bentley; sister, Dorothy Mansfield of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Georgina Murphy and Willa Albright; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Alberta McMenemy, Louise Waring and Ida Dampier; brothers, George and Vincent Bentley. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2 pm with Major Larry and Judy Goudie officiating.
