Obituary of Mary Storey

The passing of Mary Alice Storey, wife of the late Trevinnion “Vin” Storey of Doaktown, NB occurred on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born in Boiestown, NB on August 28, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Montgomery and Roberta (Rice) McManus. Mary was a school teacher in District 9 (Doaktown) and was the principal of the Doaktown Primary School. She was a member of the Old Mill Golf Club, Doaktown Curling Club and served on many boards throughout her life, including the Board of Health, Central New Brunswick Nursing Home and as a member of the New Brunswick Teachers Association. Mary was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Doaktown where she was a member of the ACW, spent time as the parish treasurer and served on many committees, most recently the basement fundraising committee. Mary is survived by two sons, Sean (Sandra) Storey, of Doaktown and Darren (Carys) Storey, of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Victoria, Zachery, Coel and Rhayne; one sister, Jeanne (Jack) Flynn, of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Monty and Jimmy McManus. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Doaktown on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 1 pm with Rev. Dr. Brian Spence officiating. Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Doaktown. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
