Obituary of Emma MacFarlane

Emma slipped away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in much the same way she had lived her life, quietly and with little fuss. She was born on August 25, 1916 in Temple, NB, the daughter of Rachel and Alan Ritchie. Emma loved gardening, needlework and her Toronto Blue Jays. We will miss her sense of humour and constant love. She will be greatly missed by her children, Brian and Corinne; her grandchildren, Tim and Dustyn. She is also survived by her sister, Grace White (Mike); sister-in-law, Mary MacFarlane; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Maurice, she was predeceased by her sisters, Violet, Alice, Ada, Ethel, Laura, Reta and brothers, Donald, Elwood, Sydney, Freeman and Percy. Although there will be no visitation or funeral; a graveside service will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. We would like to thank the folks at the York Care Centre for the wonderful care you gave Emma. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
