Obituary of Shirley Yerxa

At home, surrounded by her loving family, Shirley Elizabeth Yerxa of Keswick, NB, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Sherman H. Yerxa in March of this year. Born on December 08, 1924 in Temperance Vale, NB, she was the daughter of the late E. Ray and Margaret (Chapman) Morrison. In her early years, she was a school teacher. Following her marriage, Shirley’s life centered around her home and family. Shirley was Baptist by faith and was devoted for many years to the Sunday School and Awana Program at her church. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, knitting and gardening. Shirley is survived by her children, Ray Yerxa (Lorraine) of Keswick, NB, Ida May Tucker (Stephen) of Hampton, NB, Mavis Corey (Avon) of Keswick, NB, Dianne Patterson (Tim) of Keswick, NB; grandchildren, Sheldon (Amy) Yerxa, Jessica (Phil) Yerxa, Lisa (Andrew) Allen, Shawn Tucker, Stacey (Michael) Sullivan, Amy (Philemon) Lawrence, Alex Corey, Bradley, Laura, Kyle, Jordan (Michelle) and Melissa Patterson; twelve great grandchildren, Averie, Brooke, Mylee, Logan, Lacey, Luke, Grace, Elias, Ella, Keira, Annalise and Milo; sisters, Nellie Corey of Nackawic, NB, Lorna Shephard of Burtts Corner, NB and Carol Stairs of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Jean Yerxa, of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Marion Boyd and brother, Elmer Morrison. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating and Pastor Bev Jewett assisting. Interment will take place in Keswick Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Extra Mural Hospital, Parkinson Society or Keswick Cemetery. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
