Obituary of Otty Buchanan

The passing of Otty Austin Buchanan of Fredericton, NB, loving husband of Mabel (Pearson) Buchanan, occurred on Sunday, September 02, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 22, 1934 in Berwick, NB, he was a son of the late John and Stella (Adair) Buchanan. Otty was a member of All Saints Anglican Church in Marysville. He was employed at McKnight senior apartments and held various managerial positions at Sunny Glen Eggs, Capital Cooperative, DFP Limited and Millstream Creamery. Upon retirement, he operated a saw sharpening business. He spent several years frequenting their country summer place, where he enjoyed gardening and the great outdoors. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Otty is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Freeman) Holder, Karen (Emery Robidoux) Buchanan, Joanne (Louis) Barry, Cecilia (Mark Hayes) Branch; grandchildren, Caitlin (Peter) Baker, Brandon Robidoux, Shannon Barry, Jan Barry, Shelby Barry, Jesse Hayes and Bridget Hayes; sister; Garda Northrup. Besides his parents, Otty was predeceased by brothers, Raymond Buchanan, Meryl Buchanan, Harvey Buchanan; sister, Verna Jones. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 1 pm with Canon John Cathcart and Canon Tom Smith officiating. Interment will take place in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Highfield, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
