Obituary of Madeline Allen

The passing of Madeline Allen, wife of the late Edwin Gerald Allen, of Fredericton, occurred on May 23, 2011 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on November 19, 1922 in Upper Keswick, NB, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Pheobe (Price) Hughson. Madeline was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church and the United Church Women. She was a volunteer at York Manor and enjoyed spending her time following her children and grandchildren along to all of their activities. Madeline is survived by three sons, Dale (Lorraine) of Woodstock, Paul (Gail) of Fredericton and Mike (Jennifer) of Douglas; five grandchildren, Kathy (Darren) Palmer, Melanie (Joel) Tingley, Daryl (Gabriella) Allen, Jill (Shawn) Bloodsworth and Peter Allen; seven great-grandchildren, Megan Thornton, Kate Levesque, Jordan Allen, Jacob Palmer, Samuel, Micah and Nicholas Tingley; three step great-grandchildren, Kristin Palmer, Cassie and Jacob Bloodsworth; brother, Hughie Hughson of Fredericton; sister-in-law, Betty Hughson of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon; sister, Dorothy Seavey; brothers, Aaron, Guy and Shalta Hughson; sisters-in-law, Betty and Grace Hughson; brother-in-law, Franklin Seavey. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Friday, May 27 from 4 until 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie and Rev. Peter Thomas officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Peter, Daryl, and Garnet Allen, Darren Palmer, Joel Tingley and Allan Hughson; Honourary Pallbeares will be Ina MacFadzen, Pauline Giberson, Mildred Ring, Edith MacDonald, Joyce Leger, Marg Stafford, Marie Kerr, Frances Gullison, Frances Peters and Mary Lou Hallett. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to thank all Departmental Staff at York Manor (Atrium and Tower 1) for their compassion and care, through their actions this made Madeline feel truly special. Also thank Rev.
