Obituary of Martha Astle

The passing of Martha Luvina (Palmer) Astle, wife of the late Spencer Astle, of Astle, NB, occurred on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born on May 18, 1917, Martha was a daughter of the late Perley and Beatrice (Scott) Palmer. Martha is survived by one daughter, Ruth Grant (Jack) of Renfrew, ON; two sons, Weldon Astle (Ellen) of Newmarket, ON, William Astle (Noreen) of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Palmer (Maxine) of Gagetown, NB, Merlin Palmer (Leslie) of Parkers Ridge, NB; two sisters, Thelma Leseaux (Rodger) of Armstrong, BC, Eileen Wamboldt (Russ) of Cold Brook, NS; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Martha was predeceased by one daughter, Nellie Norrad and son-in-law, Calvin Norrad; one brother, Everett Palmer; five sisters, Jeanette Palmer, Mary Carson, Louise Grant, Precilla Walsh and Tressa Merrill. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the funeral home on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11am. Pallbearers are Jeffery, Paul and Todd Astle, Jane Grant, Warren Merrill and Randy Palmer. Honourary Pallbearers are Nora and Reg Astle, Alice and Nelson Hunter and Bonnie Clowater. Interment will be in Astle Community Cemetery.
