Obituary of Bessie Currie

The peaceful passing of Bessie Mildred (Smith) Currie, wife of the late D’Arcy Currie of Douglas, NB occurred on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB at the age of 95. Born in Long Reach, NB on December 15, 1916, Bessie was the youngest daughter of the late Harry Gray and Mahala Elizabeth (Van-Wart) Smith. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Fredericton. Bessie is survived by three daughters, Diane Bunker (Fraser), of Fredericton, NB, Irene Hurley (Robert), of Spanish Room, NL and Leigh Ferguson (Randy), of Douglas, NB; eight grandchildren, Holly Irving (Blaine), Beverly Bunker (Leanne), Bill Bunker (Maryanne), Michael Bunker (Marc), Jane Hurley, Nicolas Hurley, Aaron Ferguson and Laura Ferguson (Mateusz); six great-grandchildren, Jenny Irving (Hayden), Mindy Irving, Amy Bunker, Victoria Bunker, Ben Bunker and Ally Bunker; great great granddaughter, Ruby MacNeill; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Bessie was predeceased by an infant daughter, Helen; one son, William; five sisters, Jean, Helen, Edith, Grace and Alice; and one brother, Charles. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
