Obituary of Bessie Dorcas

The passing of Bessie Evans (Gorman) Dorcas of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Jack Ernest Dorcas occurred on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 26, 1918 in Cardigan, NB, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lillian (Evans) Gorman. She was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church. Bessie was a school teacher, she taught at various schools throughout New Brunswick. Her first passion was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to Jack, a caring mother to their three children and their extended family. She will be missed more than words can express. Bessie is survived by her children, Doris Henry (Neil) of Lower Coverdale, NB, Jack Dorcas (Denise) of Fredericton, NB and Brian Dorcas (Mary Louise) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Andrew Henry (Diane), Lisa D’Amore (Mark), Joel Dorcas (Jolene); step grandson, Chris Daigle; great grandchildren, Jordan Dorcas, Jenna Dorcas and Sebastian D’Amore; brothers, Jack Gorman (Fannie) and Rand Gorman (Donna) all of Fredericton, NB; sister-in-law, Pearle Gorman of Cardigan, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Bessie was predeceased by her granddaughter, Heather Henry; sisters, Beatrice Pineo, Ellen Hossack, Gladys Painter, Faye Pineo and Lois Gorman; brothers, Thomas and David Gorman. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Williamsburg Cemetery Fund, North Cardigan United Church Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
