Obituary of Donald Grant

The passing of Donald Eric Grant of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 23, 1954 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond and Leora (Hawkins) Grant. Don loved cars and Nascar Racing and was especially proud of his’93 Mustang which was his pride and joy. His love of the Dungarvan, his camp, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing, all together made it for him “2MUCHFUN” which is what he lived by. Don had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone who was in need. He was predeceased by his little dog Zoe who was his best companion. Don is survived by sister, Judy (Fran) Dobbelsteyn of Rusagonis, NB; brothers, Marvin (Marge), Aulden (Bonita) and Ken all of Fredericton, NB and Wendell (Sue) of Oshawa, ON; nieces and nephews, Brian (Lee) Thomas of Oshawa, ON, Joey (Betty) Thomas of Lindsay, ON, Darcy Grant (Larry Sampson) of Fredericton, NB, Krista (Steve) Haysom of Calgary, AB, Jennifer (Brent) Mance of Oshawa, ON, Christine (Travis) Musika of Vancouver, BC and Cynthia Dobbelsteyn of Fredericton, NB; also survived by grand nieces and nephews, Sean (Bambi) Thomas, Lauren Rennie, Grant and Sophie Haysom, Olivia, Orianna and Taylor Dobbelsteyn, Ryan and Kyle Musika and Madison Mance. In addition to his immediate family, Don will be greatly missed by Brenda Davidson (a dear friend) and her children, Nick, Chris and Amy; grandchildren, Noah and Garrett all whom he treated as his own and he held them close to his heart. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce (Mrs. Eldon) Thomas and nephew, Ian Dobbelsteyn. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery.
