Obituary of Eldon Bramble

The sudden passing of Eldon Earle Bramble, husband of Edna (Keenan) Bramble, of Maugerville, occurred on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Born on May 14, 1947 in Fredericton, he was a son of Charles and the late Alberta (Harding) Bramble. Eldon was the Owner and Operator of Bramble's Vegetable Farm for 26 years and attended the W.W. Boyce Farmers Market for all those years. He worked at Harvey's Vegetable Farm and most recently was a Carpenter for Lloyd Dutcher Developments. He was President, Secretary and Manager of the Maugerville Agricultural Society, a longtime active member and Director of the Agriculture Alliance of NB, on the Board of Directors of Co-op Atlantic, on the Board of Directors of Capital Credit Union and an active member of Gibson Memorial United Church. He was the President of the Maugerville Community Centre and was very well respected in the community; in everything he did. Eldon loved farming and especially loved interacting with all of the people at the W.W. Boyce Farmers Market. Over the years, Eldon had made a total of 139 Blood donor donations. “Underneath that typical reserved Bramble persona, beat the heart of a gentle sweet soul.” Besides his wife and father, Eldon is survived by his children, Charles “Chuck” (Tracy) Sigurdson of Calgary, AB, Jerrilyn Bramble of Fredericton, Katherine Bramble (Hooman Vafakhah) of Edmonton, AB and Michael Bramble of London, ON; grandchildren, Ethan and Sophie Sigurdson; siblings, Neil (Ann) of Guelph, ON, Denver (Arlene) and Ardeth (George) Glenwright both of Maugerville, Beverley (Susan Currie) and Winnie (Tom) Dimock both of Fredericton; father-in-law, John “Jack” Keenan; sister-in-law, Audrey MacKenzie and brother-in-law, Darrell (Dawn) Keenan all of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to Eldon’s mother, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Myrtle Keenan. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Gibson Memorial United Church on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhock officiating. Interment will take place at Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
