Obituary of Albert MacPherson

Albert “Ab” Harry MacPherson husband of the late Frances “Fran” (Boyce) MacPherson passed away peacefully with his children and grandchildren always near, on June 17, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 21, 1924 in Marysville, NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Maude (Higgins) MacPherson. Albert was active to the end. He enjoyed walking the mall and meeting friends. He knew most of the city transit drivers and spoke so highly of each one. Albert relished doing acts of kindness for others. He never judged others and accepted everyone. Albert was musical. He played the piano, guitar, accordion and was a member of the “Smokey Mokes” in the 1950’s. His artistic abilities extended to drawing, painting and wood crafts. At Christmas he created an array of woodcrafts for family and friends. His grandchildren had lots of help with their school projects. His grandchildren loved “Gramp stories” the stories often went to Gramp letting them do, eat or buy whatever they wanted! As a Navy Veteran of WWII he believed in peace. He shared his memorable experiences often with friends and family. The “Ball Hill” in Marysville was a place Ab enjoyed. He played ball for years and followed the “Royals” as much as his beloved Toronto “Blue Jays”. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the DECRH 3 East, your professional and caring support will not be forgotten. Albert is survived by three sons Greg (Karen), Michael and Todd all of Fredericton, NB; one daughter Linda (Don) Justason of Florenceville, NB; five grandchildren Melissa, Breanne, Connor, Dara and Maggie; two great grandchildren Jacob and Nathan Toner; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Albert was predeceased by seven brothers, Quentin, Amos, Hugh, Ritchie, George, Louis and Edward MacPherson and three sisters Velma Clark, Kay Stevenson and Barb Boyle. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 are asked to assemble for a tribute service at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 18, 2012 at York Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will take place at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Society or the SPCA.
